Using Office Stream Video at Silkwood - Naming Conventions
What is Office 365 Stream?
Office 365 Stream is an internal video streaming platform similar to YouTube, but only available to Silkwood school students and staff.
Videos uploaded to this Video Repository, are able to be embedded directly into web based sites and tools.
What is it used for?
Storage of videos in Office 365 reduces the use of date storage in Ignite, reduces the internet data used by a user who may be using personal internet, and keeps the internet speed faster when accessing online videos in Ignite.
Staff can use Office 365 Stream to store videos to embed into Ignite courses.
Students can upload videos which they have created for school projects, then use the embed code to share these videos online.
When students submit their videos to an assessment dropbox in Ignite, they should paste the embed code in the comments section of their submission. Then the teacher can view the video directly without downloading the file. Note: Students need to submit a file to enable comments submission. This can be a word document with an explanation or reflections about the task.
The Video embed code can also be inserted into an ePortfolio presentation for the video to be viewed directly without file downloading.
Permissions
Students cannot create Channels and should only have upload capabilities for their graduating year.
Students cannot delete other students’ videos but should be able to edit their own.
The teachers of a year level are able to manage videos in the Channel for that year level.
The teachers of an Ignite Course are given admin over the related video channel.
Teacher permissions on Channels are reset each year when teachers change classes.
