Verify ABSTUDY students
The below will be received to the reception@silkwood.qld.edu.au inbox each term. The dates are available here: Key dates for Queensland.
Below is a sample of the email:
We need your school to confirm your students receiving ABSTUDY have met the minimum 85% attendance of school days requirement to qualify for payment of School Term Allowance.
We need this information to work out if a parent or guardian is entitled to ABSTUDY School Term Allowance. If you don't provide this information, students may not receive money they are entitled to.
At the end of each term, a unique One Time Access Code (OTAC) is provided to schools to verify attendance information electronically.
Once you submit your attendance report your OTAC will expire and you cannot make any further changes.
What you need to do
To verify attendance information:
- Go to the Services Australia website.
- In the search field type 'Education Institutions eService'.
- Select the 'Education Institutions eService' page from the search results.
- Select the 'Log on' link under the heading 'How to log on to the eService'.
- Enter your One Time Access Code to confirm the information.
- Verify the attendance information of each student.
- Use the 'Comments' field to enter any additional information in relation to the student. For example, if the student is known by another name.
- Submit the information.
- Print a copy of your responses for your records.
What you need to know
You need to submit attendance information within 14 days from the date of this letter. If you do not provide this information, ABSTUDY School Term Allowance payments cannot be issued to students.

If you need to amend attendance information after your OTAC has expired, you can complete a form available on the Services Australia website.
To locate the form go to the Services Australia website and in the search field type 'Change to attendance information for ABSTUDY students'. Follow the instructions at the end of the form to return it.
Steps to compelte:
- The attendance check will pop up with the student details.
- Open SEQTA in a new tab (do not close the current page)
- Check that the student is still current - search them in the SIP of SEQTA if they are not current they will not appear.
- If they have left the school go to Administration Workspace> Data Management> Students and search the student. When you click on their name, more details will appear on the right including exit date.
- For current students, run the Class Statistics Report for the term.
- You are looking for the Advisory Roll class for an overview of their attendance percentage as per column 'O'.
- If the attendance is above 85%, click yes.
- Repeat for any further students and submit.
