3cx phone system setting up a new user or making changes
3cx admin instructions for adding / modifying users and phones.
To add / modify users.
- On the dashboard page, click on Users in the menu pane on the left.
- To add a new extension, click on the Add button.
- Enter the required extension number in the box. Make sure that the extension correlates to correct department. Enter the users name and email address.
- Set their password to be the same as their school password.
- The pin number to access their voicemail is found in the Voicemail tab. You can also set up for them to receive email notifications of messages.
- To set up call forwarding select the Forwarding Rules tab. This allows the user to set how they want to manage their calls when they are away / unavailable.
To make changes select from the drop-down menus on the right.
- When all changes have been made click on the OK button to save the changes.
- This is the link for the user to access 3cx via the web.

- The username is their extension number. The password should be set as their school login password.
- If they want to have the 3cx app on their phone, they will firstly need to download it from the relevant app store.
- The QR code is now only visible from the admin console. When you click on the user it will display the QR code. When setting up the app it will prompt you to scan the QR code. Once this is done the user will automatically be added into the system and they can start making calls.
To modify an existing extension.
- If you need to modify or change an existing extension. Click on users in the menu pane.
- Select the user by clicking in the box to the left of their name.
- This will allow you to change whose extension it is.
- You can also make changes to call forwarding rules. Such as, how calls should be managed if the person is away or busy.
