iPad not Charging or Powering on
iPad Not Charging or Powering On
If an iPad isn’t powering on or charging as expected, try these simple steps before logging a ticket!
1: Check the Charger and Cable
Try a known working cable and adapter first. Plug into a wall socket (not a USB port), and make sure all connections are secure.
- Swap to a spare charger if available
- Leave the iPad plugged in for 10–15 minutes
💡 If no charging icon appears, it may be the cable or the port.
2: Clean the Charging Port
Dust or lint can stop the cable from connecting properly. Check inside the charging port and carefully clear any debris.
- Use a soft brush or wooden toothpick
-
Do not use metal objects or compressed air
3: Force restart the iPad
If the screen is unresponsive or completely black, a force restart may help.
-
iPads with Home button: Hold Power + Home for ~10 seconds
-
iPads without Home button: Press Volume Up → Volume Down → then hold Power
4: Try Another Power Source
It might be the outlet. Plug the iPad into a different wall socket or try a second charger if one is available.
5: Still Not Working?
If none of the above worked, log a ticket with IT and include the following:
- The iPad’s R Number (Settings > General > Display Name i.e R36405)
- Any signs of damage
