Student Loan Laptops

To support students experiencing temporary challenges with their personal devices, a limited number of refurbished staff laptops have been made available for loan. This initiative is part of our commitment to sustainability and learning continuity, repurposing equipment that would otherwise go to e-waste.

Please note that this program is a supplementary support and does not replace the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Program. Students are still expected to bring a personal laptop that is suitable for learning each day.

To help maintain alignment with the BYOD expectations, usage reports for loan laptops will be shared with the Teaching Team. These reports can assist in identifying patterns, such as students who may need a conversation around coming to school ready for learning if they are continuously forgetting theirs, or communication with families regarding repairing or replacing devices.

As availability is limited, we cannot guarantee a loan laptop will be accessible on any given day. This is a trial service, and while we aim to assist where possible, it is not a guaranteed provision.

Daily Loan:

Availability: Limited number of refurbished laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each laptop comes with a protective sleeve, and a charger.
Cost: Nil
Use: Please note software cannot be downloaded to these laptops; exceptions being made only for extended hire. The student can access OneDrive, learning sites and Office 365.
Collection: Laptops can be collected from the ICT office each morning from 7:45am. A calendar invite will be sent to Advisors as a reminder for the student to return the laptop between 2:40pm and 3:00pm.
Return: Laptops must be returned to the ICT office by 3:15pm each afternoon. They will be signed back in and checked for any damage or missing components.

Extended Hire:

Purpose: Extended hire is available for longer periods, such as when a student's laptop is in for repairs.
Process: Families can use the Student Laptop Hire option on QKR to specify the required timeframe and reason for the loan.
Cost: Available for 5 or 10-day hire periods at a cost of $10 per day.
Maximum Term: The maximum hire term for an extended loan is 10 days.

Responsibilities:

Students: Responsible for the care and timely return of the loaned laptops.
Advisors: Assist students in meeting their responsibilities and in returning the loaned laptops to the ICT office.
ICT: Ensures the availability and maintenance of the laptops.

Loan Return Policy:

Loan laptops must be returned to the ICT Department by 3:15pm
If a laptop is not returned, the student will be unable to borrow another device for three school days.
Repeated failure to return a loan laptop may result in the student being excluded from the program for the remainder of the term.
